With the intensification of industrialization,a large number of acidic gases?SO2,NOx,etc.?are discharged into the atmosphere to form"haze".Under such acidic atmosphere, the strength,elastic-plasticity,transmittance and corrosion resistance of industrial equipment or building materials will change for a long time, leading to the decrease of safety performance and service life as well as serious economic losses.Due to its excellent optical and mechanical properties and good chemical stability, soda lime silica?SLS?glass has been widely used in various fields such as construction, daily use, medical treatment, chemistry and instrument;it has become the main material for optical manufacturing components, building materials, windows and solar panels. This make SLS glass inevitably suffer from the erosion of"haze"atmosphere in use. Therefore, from the perspective of tribology, this paper takes SLS glass as an object to study the influence of SO2 gas in"haze"on the friction and wear behavior of SLS glass. The obtained results is important for guiding the actual production, processing and use.In this thesis, this modified SLS glass surface is performed in a self-designed material modification device, and then the friction and wear experimentof SLS glass was investigated with a silica glass ball in humid air upon a ball-on-flat tribometer. In this study, the effect of load on the friction and wear properties of SLS glass in humid air is studied.Furthermore, the effects of SO2 on the physical and chemical properties and the frictional and wear properties of SLS glass were analyzed by various techniques involing optical microscope, field emission scanning electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer, etc. On this basis, the following conclusions can be drawn:?1?Experimental results showed that wear volume of both air-side and tin-side of SLS glass increased as the applied load increased. Moreover, the tin-side showed a less wear-resistance compared to air-side side under the same load conditions. It was found that there was no significant difference of nanomechanical properties between air-side and tin-side of SLS glass, indicating the tribochemical reactions between tin-side and adsorbed water molecules occurring at the sliding interface, rather than mechanical effect, played a dominated role in the wear process of SLS glass.?2?The wear behavior of SLS glass surface modified by SO2 is mainly dominated by tribochemical reactions. The nano-hardness and reduced modulus of SLS glass surface modified by SO2 were significantly increased.Na+migrates to the outside of the glass and forms Na2SO4.Among them, after the modification of dry SO2,the decomposition of Si-OH on the glass surface resulted in the increase of Si-O-Si,the reduction of hydrophilic groups on the glass surface weakened the adsorption capacity of water molecules on the glass surface, and the stress hydrolysis reaction on the glass surface in the friction and wear experiment was greatly weakened, resulting in the enhancement of the wear resistance of the glass surface;after modified by humid SO2,the high concentration of H2O in outside enters the glass surface to generate Si-OH,which leads to the increase of hydrophilic groups on the glass surface and induces more severe stress hydrolysis, resulting in more serious material removal on the SLS glass surface.
