Molybdenum disulfide,as a self-lubricating material,has been widely used as a lubricant additive to enhance the anti-friction and anti-ware performance of base oil.The morphology and size are one of the key factors affecting the lubrication performance of molybdenum disulfide.In this paper,MoS2 flowers and MoS2 spheres were prepared by solvothermal method,and their mixture with graphene was prepared by physical mixing.Their phase,morphology,micro-structure were characterized by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope,energy disperse spectroscopy,transmission electron microscopy,X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy,respectively.In addition,the friction-wear test of MoS2 materials and their mixtures as lubricant additive was carried out,and the anti-friction and anti-ware performance was analyzed.?1?The MoS2 flowers with favourable dispersibility and high purity was synthesized by solvothermal method using thioacetamide,potassium molybdate,and dimethyl formamide as raw materials.The XRD result show that the?002?diffraction peak of MoS2 shifted left.Combined with HRTEM results,it was confirmed that the layer spacing of MoS2 flowers was expanded.Meanwhile,the friction and wear performance of MoS2 flowers as a lubricant additive was investigated,and the results showed that MoS2 flowers could significantly improve the anti-friction and anti-ware performance of base oil.?2?The MoS2 spheres with good dispersibility and uniform size was prepared by solvothermal method employing PEG-10000 as surfactant and thiourea,potassium molybdate,and dimethyl formamide as reactants.Similarly,the layer spacing of MoS2 flowers was also expanded.The influence of PEG-10000 on the morphology of MoS2 spheres was analyzed by adjusting the amount of PEG-10000 under other conditions remain unchanged.The SEM results revealed that the self-assembly level of MoS2 can be regulated by the amount of PEG-10000.Furthermore,the friction and wear performance of MoS2 spheres as a lubricant additive was investigated,and the results revealed that the MoS2 spheres shows excellent anti-friction and anti-ware effect.?3?The mixtures of MoS2 flowers with graphene and MoS2 spheres with graphene was prepared by a physical mixing.SEM results shows that the was uniform distributed on the graphene net,and it is further confirmed that good dispersibility of MoS2 flowers and MoS2 spheres have been obtained by the solvothermal method.the friction and wear performance of graphene,mixture of MoS2 flowers and graphene,mixture of MoS2 spheres and graphene as a lubricant additive was investigated,respectively,and the results showed that they all exhibit good anti-friction and anti-ware performance.?4?The frictional and wear performance of materials prepared in this paper were compared in their optimum additive concentration as the lubricant additive.The results indicates that the lubrication performance of mixture of MoS2 and graphene as lubricant additive is better than MoS2 or graphene alone.The mixture of MoS2 spheres and graphene shows the lowest friction coefficient and the best anti-load capacity under the loads range from 10 N to320 N.After the 9000 s friction and wear performance test,the lowest abrasion loss and the smoothest surface of the pin were achieved.
