Ternary layered compound Ti3AlC2,which possesses the outstanding properties of both metals and ceramics,has been widespread concerned by domestic and foreign researchers.Ti3AlC2 material is of good electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity,high oxidation resistance,thermal stability and corrosion resistance,good radiation resistance,excellent tribological properties and self-lubricating properties,which is an ideal reinforcement phase of copper matrix composites.Therefore,it has a wide range of applications in the fields of aerospace and nuclear industry.In this paper,the effect of He ion irradiation on the morphology and structure of Ti3AlC2 material was studied and the influence mechanism was analyzed.The mechanical properties of Cu-Ti3AlC2composites such as relative density,hardness,electrical conductivity and flexural strength were tested.The friction and wear properties of Cu-Ti3AlC2 composites under different Ti3AlC2,loadings and sliding velocities were studied respectively,then the wear mechanism was also analyzed.To study the ion irradiation properties of Ti3AlC2,Ti3AlC2 materials were implanted with He ions with an energy of 70keV,a dose of 1×1017ions/cm2 and a peak shift displacement of 16.4dpa.The results show that there is Al2O3 phase on the surface of Ti3AlC2 sample.When the concentration of He ions increases,the Al2O3 phase increases,the degree of irradiation damage also increases.After He ion irradiation,the surface of the material have holes,bumps and helium bubbles.At the same time,structure have phase transition from?phase to?phase.In the study of the physical and mechanical properties of Cu-Ti3AlC2 composites,it was found that with the increase of Ti3AlC2 content,the relative density and electrical conductivity of the composites gradually decreased,and the hardness increased gradually.At the same time,the bending strength increased.Cu/20%Ti3AlC2 composites have better overall properties.Experiments on wear of Cu-Ti3AlC2 composites show that the wear rate and friction coefficient of the composites decrease obviously with the increase of Ti3AlC2 volume fraction.Cu/20%Ti3AlC2 composites have a better wear resistance.Wear,surface roughness and wear rate increased with the increasing load of composites.With the increase of sliding velocity,the surface roughness increases and the wear rate increases with the increase of sliding velocity.At low speed,the wear resistance is better.Under high speed,wear is fierce.
