Long glass fiber reinforced thermoplastics composite(LGFPP)is a high tensile,light weight,recyclable composite.LGFPP have been widely used in lightweight automotive components and parts due to its special characteristics.However,The safety of passengers posesa serious threat if an accident were to happen due to the flammability of polypropylene.Therefore,The research and development of composite should not be confined to the mechanical properties of materials,but also pay more attention to the flame retardancy of composites.In this paper,the author adopted the advanced production technology of LGFPP in China.(LFT-D on-line moulding process).This paper studies the effect of ?-ZrP,IFR,Glass fibre on flame retardant and mechanical properties of composite.The first step,This paper studies the effect of flame retardant EPFR-110 DL and IFR on flame retardant and mechanical properties of composite with comparison of their features and performance.The experimental results show that the mechanical properties of the material:tensile strength,bending strength,impact strength declined when flame retardant is filled.The mechanical properties of flame retardant EPFR-110 DL are better than flame retardant IFR.The tensile strength of EPFR-110 DL decreased by 33%,bending strength decreases by 39%,impact strength decreases by 54%.The tensile strength of IFR decreased by 26%,bending strength decreases by 50%,impact strength decreases by 55%.When the content of flame retardant EPFR-110 DL is 23%,the material can reach UL-94 V-0 grade and no dripping.The content of flame retardant IFR is 25%,the material can reach UL-94 V-0 grade and no dripping.After TGA test,the thermal stability of EPFR-110 DL is higher than that of IFR flame retardant.The second step,This paper studies the effect of ?-ZrP synergize with EPFR-110 DL on flame retardant and mechanical properties of Polypropylene.This paper adopted ?-ZrP and organic modified ?-ZrP(O-ZrP)test the mechanical properties and flame retardancy.The test results show that the mechanical properties of composite are improved obviously after adding ZrP.The mechanical properties of adding O-ZrP are better than adding?-ZrP.The tensile strength and bending strength are declined after adding more than 4% ZrP.The impact strength are declined after adding more than 2% ?-ZrP.The impact strength are declined after adding more than 3% O-ZrP.When the content of ?-ZrP is 3%,the material can reach UL-94 V-0 grade and no dripping.The content of O-ZrP is 25%,the material can reach UL-94 V-0 grade and no dripping.The third step,in this papper studies the effect of long glass fiber reinforced flame-retardant polypropylene composite.The experimental results show that the ZrP improves the tensile strength,bending strength,impact strength,but the elongation at break and toughness of the composite will be declined.When the content of ?-ZrP is 4%,the composite can reach UL-94 V-0 grade and no dripping.The mechanical properties of the composites increase with the glass fiber content increased.When the content of glass fiber reaches 30%,after the content 30% the mechanical properties of composites decreased.The elongation at break of composites will be declined after adding glass fiber.The flame retardancy of the composites will be decreased after adding glass fiber due to "wick effect".When the glass fiber content reaches 40%,the flame retardant grade of the composites will be reduced to UL-94 V1.The mechanical properties of composites will be improved after adding Compatibilizer MAPP.When the content of MAPP reaches 6%,the mechanical properties of the composites are the best.
