Nylon 6(PA6)and its modified composites have become one of the most used engineering plastics due to their excellent performance.Currently, the most commonly used means of PA6 modification are nanoparticle modification and glass fiber(GF)reinforced modification.Graphene(GE)is an excellent nanosheet material, compared with other nanoparticle modified PA6,it has obvious performance advantages. The dispersibility and compatibility of GE in the PA6 matrix is a key issue for its modified PA6.The appearance of graphene oxide(GO)and "in-situ polymerization" can effectively solve the above problems. In addition, the strength of PA6 can be greatly improved by GF reinforced modification, and the combination of GE modification and GF reinforced modification can produce special synergistic effect. This paper focuses on the development of a lightweight,high-strength PA6 composite material.High-performance GO/PA6 composites are prepared by in-situ polymerization using GO raw materials.Further,GF reinforced GE/PA6 was prepared by compounding with GF,and its application in the lightweight of automobiles was explored. The main research contents are as follows:1?Based on the hydrolysis polymerization of PA6,the process of in-situ polymerization of GO to prepare GE/PA6 was designed. It was found that the in-situ polymerization process can effectively reduce GO to GE,and the PA6 molecular chain is grafted onto the GE sheet, which improves the dispersion and compatibility of GE in the PA6 matrix.2?A variety of GE/PA6 composites were prepared by optimizing the process.Comparative analysis found that the composites prepared by GO with a sheet size of 50 ?m and an addition of 0.2 wt%were more excellent in mechanical strength. The tensile strength reached 84.75 MPa and the bending strength reached 140.52 MPa.The addition of GE can improve the crystallization temperature, crystallinity, thermal stability, wear resistance, gas tightness and antistatic properties of the composites. However, the elongation at break and the notched impact strength of the composite material decrease, and the toughness of the material decreases.3?The GE/PA6 composite is further modified with GF,and the mechanical strength of the composite is greatly improved by the synergistic effect of GE and GF.The best performance composites have a tensile strength of 194.79 MPa,a flexural strength of 259.75 MPa,and a non-notched impact strength of 87.41 kJ/m2,which exceeds the PA66 with the same GF content. The automotive water chamber parts were injection molded using this material, and its application in lightweight vehicles was explored.
