The serious pollution of Liaohe River regulate development of northeast China and makes the development of northeast China stepping into a bottleneck period. Therefore, the pollution prevention and control of Liaohe River is extremely urgent. In order to prevent and control pollution of Liaohe River effectively.First of all,the cumulative pollution input in this area was estimated, then the present situation of pollution should be understand through risk assessment, finally the main sources of pollutants in this area were determined by source analysis. In this paper, the sediments in Liaohe River Protected Area?LRPA?were collected as sampled. The heavy metals in the sediments were extracted by BCR method, and the heavy metals was content was determined by ICP-OES,the content of PAHs was determined by GC-MS.The risk assessment of heavy metals in the sediments of LRPA was carried out respectively by Index of Geoaccumulation method, evaluation of Potential Ecological Risk Index method and Risk Assessment Code.Meanwhile the risk assessment of PAHs in Liaohe Nature Reserve was carried out respectively by the method of risk quotients, mean effects median quotient, and the effects range median/low.The conclusion was that the pollution level of Cd was level 3,the other heavy metals were level 0,and the hazard coefficient was354.42,the extractable fraction proportion of Cd was 24.51%,the results showed that heavy metal pollution in sediments in Liaohe River Protected Area was mainly caused by Cd.The lowest risk quotient value RQNCs of total PAHs was more than 1 and less than 800,the mean of mean effects median quotient was less than 0.1,and the content of PAHs was lower than the low value of the effect range, the results showed that the possibility of ecological risk caused by PAHs in sediments of Liaohe River Protected Area was low.In addition, the input of heavy metals and PAHs in LRPA was estimated, and the heavy metals and PAHs in the sediments were analyzed by principal component analysis and partial least square regression. The results showed that the deposition of atmosphere and livestock manure were the main input of heavy metals in LRPA,coke production and the combustion of straw and firewood were the main input modes of PAHs in LRPA,Cu and Zn were mainly derived from fertilizers,As and Cd were mainly derived from coal burning.Ni was mainly derived from soil parent material,Pb came from gasoline, and PAHs in the LRPA were mainly caused by factory production which in Tieling coal burning for heating in various regions, oil burning and traffic activities.
