Grinding wheel performance decline during storage,become one of the problems affecting the development of the industry,studying the resistance of the grinding wheel has become one of the research topics for the technical staff in the industry.The existing conclusion is that the factor that affects the decline is the erosion of water,auxiliary materials to reduce the occurrence of defects such as micro cracks in the process,there are packaging upgrades such as plastic packaging,vacuum packaging,desiccant auxiliary etc;there are resin modifications such as epoxy modification,rubber modification,alkylphenol modification etc.This study includes the preparation of boron modified phenolic resin,xylene modified phenolic resin and boron-xylene composite modified phenolic resin by chemical modifications,in which phenol and formaldehyde are as raw material,p-toluene sulfonic acid as catalyst,xylene resin and boric acid as modifier,and hexamethylenetetramine as curing agent.Analysis of infrared spectrum and gel permeation chromatography proves that the intented purpose of above-mentioned synthetic modification had been achieved.Both boron and xylene have been introduced into phenolic resin structure by chemical combination instead of a simple physical mixture.TGA analysis shows that the heat resistance of xylene-boron composite modified resin is better than that of common phenolic resin.Bending strength and impact strength analysises show that the comprehensive mechanical strength of abrasives with xylene-boron composite modified phenolic resin as binder is better than abrasives with ordinary phenolic resin.The practical application research shows that the durability and anti-degradation of the ultra-thin cutting wheels with modified resin as binder are both better than that of abrasives with pure phenolic resin.Through this study,the synthetic process of modified resins was further optimized,and the conversion of the synthesis of modified resins into large-scale industrial production was used as a reference.At the same time,the modified resins played a role in improving the performance of resin cutting wheels,especially ultra-thin cutting wheels.The active role is of great significance for further study of the performance improvement of ultra-thin cutting wheel and solving the problem of the reduction of moisture absorption performance ofultra-thin grinding wheel.
