Research And Product Development Of Traditional Handmade Tussah Silk Technology

Located in the Funiu Mountains in the southwest of Henan Province,Nanzhao County has a well-developed sericulture and silk weaving industry due to its unique geographical location.In particular,the traditional handcrafted Tussah silk was a pillar industry in the region until the end of the Qing Dynasty,tussah silk production and trade reached a historical peak.However,since the 1980 s,the local traditional Tussah silk industry gradually declined.In order to carry forward the traditional non-material culture,promote the development of local economy and Tussah industry,this paper systematically combs the history of Tussah Silk Weaving in Nanzhao County by consulting historical documents,on-the-spot investigation and visiting local old artistes,the historical basis of Nanzhao County as "the home of the Tussah Silkworm" was clarified,the Tussah culture was excavated and inherited,and the experimental equipment for all processes,such as hand-made silk reeling machines,winding machines,warping and wooden looms,was acquired among the people,according to the literature records,some incomplete parts and components were restored,the Tussah silk production process,which had been interrupted for more than 30 years,was recovered,and two kinds of Tussah silk with plain and mountainous twill weave were produced,on this basis,a set of process flow is formed,which provides the theory foundation and practical video record for the application of "hand reeling silk" and "hand weaving Tussah silk" traditional intangible cultural heritage in Nanzhao County The dyeing experiment and tie-dyeing design of Tussah silk with various vegetable dyes were carried out.Through the experiments of dyeing and color fastness,the suitable effect of different dyes and mordants was determined,and the realizable pattern of the product was increased,the TUSSAH industry chain is extended and extended by designing and developing middle-grade and high-grade leisure silk garments and ornaments in accordance with the fabric style.
