The advantages of coal-based ethylene glycol technology are easy to obtain,good technical economy and low cost.It is an important alternative technology for petroleum-to-ethylene glycol and has broad prospects for development.In the process of coal-to-ethylene glycol production,coal gasification as the first unit of the whole plant is the most important core part.Coal gasification technology is the core of coal-to-ethylene glycol process.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the coal gasification technology suitable for coal-to-ethylene glycol.Based on the 400,000 tons/year coal-to-ethylene glycol project of Inner Mongolia Kailuan Chemical Co.,Ltd.in Zhungeer banner,Inner Mongolia,the coal gasification technology,which is the core part of the process technology,is studied and analyzed in terms of raw material adaptability,matching degree with the downstream process,production cost,operation stability and safety,operability and environmental impact.Finally,the coal gasification technology suitable for the project of 400,000 tons of ethylene glycol per year was obtained.The results show the entrained flow coal gasification technology has more technical advantages than the fluidized bed coal gasification technology and the fixed bed pressurized coal gasification technology;in the selection of coal gasification reactor,compared with HT-L gasifier,coal-water slurry gasification technology of Jinhua gasifier has the advantages of centralized energy consumption and easy recovery and utilization,the energy utilization rate is higher,and the comprehensive investment cost is lower.In order to investigate the actual operation behavior of coal-water slurry gasification technology of Jinhua gasifier,the gasification process of coal-water slurry gasifier was experimentally investigated using different coal types as feedstock on a typical domestic Jinhua coal-water slurry gasifier.The information of the output of syngas,syngas composition,oxygen consumption,coal consumption,cold gas efficiency and thermal efficiency of the gasifier were obtained.The experimental results show that the selected Jinhua gasifier has excellent performance and can be used for gasification of bituminous coal,high ash melting point coal and semi-coke to meet the design requirements of this project.The commercial software Fluent was used to simulate the flow field and gasification reaction process in the reactor chamber of gasifier,and the performance of gasifier was predicted.The results show that the gasification performance is good.In terms of process technology selection,the project adopts the configuration scheme of operating pressure of 4.0MPa and two gasifiers with each consumes 1100 tons of dry coal per day.Coal gasification process is divided into three stages:coal water slurry preparation,gasification and ash water treatment.Its core equipment is gasifier.Based on this,the specification of gasifier,material consumption and equipment investment information are calculated.
