Human social activities are mainly reflected in land use change,which is closely related to the change of land ecosystem.With the rapid development of China's economy,a series of ecological problems arise,such as the unreasonable use of resources,the contradiction between supply and demand between population,environment and resources,etc.,which restrict the sustainable development of China.As one of the regions with the fastest economic growth in China,it is of great significance to evaluate the ecological carrying capacity and land development status of the Pearl River Delta,as well as to provide an important reference for its sustainable development.In this paper,based on the three-phase remote sensing images and statistical data of the Pearl River Delta,the land-use change of the Pearl River Delta in 2005-2018 is analyzed with the help of transfer matrix and land-use dynamic degree.On this basis,the improved ecological footprint model is used to evaluate the ecological carrying capacity of the Pearl River Delta.The results show that:(1)From 2005 to 2018,the largest change was in construction land and cultivated land in the Pearl River Delta,with 7.03% and-4.14% respectively.60% of construction land was converted from cultivated land.From the perspective of time scale,the overall land change in 2005-2010 is 0.34% lower than that in 2015-2018.From the perspective of space,the comprehensive dynamic degree of land use in inner circle cities of the Pearl River Delta is higher than that in outer circle cities.(2)During the study period,the ecological footprint of the Pearl River Delta region increased in general,and the top three types of land with the fastest growth were construction land,fossil energy land and forest land.During the research period,the ecological footprint of fossil energy in Zhuhai and Foshan decreased significantly,while the ecological footprint of construction land increased steadily.The ecological footprint of fossil energy in Zhaoqing,Huizhou,Dongguan and Jiangmen is on the rise because of their industrial orientation.(3)In 2005-2018,the ecological carrying capacity of the Pearl River Delta region was generally unsustainable,and the ecological pressure gradually increased during the study period.Ecological deficit from the initial two point five eight eight six Increased to 2018's four point three three eight In the past 13 years,the ecological deficit almost doubled.There are great differences in spatial distribution,among which the ecological deficit of Zhuhai,Zhongshan and Guangzhou has increased about three times in 2005-2015.In Jiangmen,Dongguan,Huizhou and Zhaoqing,although the ecological deficit has increased,its growth rate is relatively slow.The ecological deficit of Shenzhen and Foshan began to decline after 2010,but after 2015 In addition to the rapid growth of Guangzhou's ecological footprint,the ecological footprint of other cities in the Pearl River Delta has declined to varying degrees.On the basis of the evaluation results,the paper puts forward feasible suggestions for the sustainable development of the Pearl River Delta.First of all,the areas with high intensity of land development and utilization in the Pearl River Delta are mainly concentrated in the estuary area of the Pearl River Delta.The local government should actively carry out industrial upgrading and transformation according to its actual situation to improve the intensive use of land resources,and protect land resources to the maximum extent while developing economy.Secondly,all cities should pay attention to the sustainability of development,control the total population,control the damage of urbanization to forests and cultivated land,and reduce the pressure of human activities on ecological carrying capacity.
