Phytic acid(PA)is widely present in nature, can be highly efficient flame retardant and does not produce toxicity when burned,in line with today's green and environmentally friendly wood flame retardant development trends and trends. This study constructed a highly effective flame retardant system of PA and metal(zinc),also the other consisting of PA and nitrogen-containing inorganic salts(melamine).Furthermore, the flame retardant system was optimized and characterized by studying the effect of the system on the fire resistance of wood.Used scanning electron microscope and element analyzer to detect the distribution of flame retardant.Observed the micro-morphology of the sample after burning. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)PA could inhibit the heat production and promote the formation of the char during the wood burning process. The THR value of the P15 phytic acid treatment group was reduced by 65.53%compared with the control group. What's more, the amount of residual carbon increased from 5.80% of the control group to 12.85%.Scanning electron micrographs showed that many irregular particles were attached to the wood surface of the P15 treatment group, proving that phytic acid molecules entered the wood internal structure of the wood after the impregnation treatment.(2)The combined treatment of phytic acid and zinc can effectively reduce the release of toxic gas represented by CO in wood combustion,as well as slow down the rate of wood quality loss, and ultimately play a significant role in promoting carbon formation. The YCO of the 15% phytic acid and25% zinc acetate compound treatment group was 87.05% lower than that of P15,the MLR value was30.30% lower than that of P15,and the amount of residual carbon in the PZ3 group was increased by45.25% compared with P15.(3)The combination of phytic acid and melamine can effectively suppress the release of smoke. The TSP of the 15% phytic acid and 9% melamine treatment group was 92.14% lower than that of theP15 group.Compared with the control group, the amount of carbon residue in the phytic acid /melamine treatment group increased from 5.80% to 26.98%-21.91%.The flame retardancy and thermal stability of the phytic acid system were compared with the performance of ammonium polyphosphate, the performance of the compound of phytic acid and zinc salt or phytic acid and melamine is improved, and the effect is better than that of phytic acid or ammonium polyphosphate alone.(4)The mechanical performance test results showed that, thephytic acid had an impact of destroying the mechanical strength of wood, however, the composite treatment of phytic acid and with zinc salt or melaminehsa had an effect of improving its mechanical properties.Among them, the static bending strength of the zinc acetate treatment group was increased by 49.79%-135.86% compared with the P15% group, and the compressive strength was increased by 52.16%-98.89%.The static bending strength of the melamine modified material was increased by 55.87%-90.64% compared with the P15%group,and the failure The load increased by 35.80%-78.40%.
