Casting is an important basic technology in the field of material science.This technology is needed to process finished materials in production,transportation,national defense,social life and other aspects.In the field of numerical simulation of casting process,most of the research is to calculate the filling and solidification process separately,and most of them are realized by professional casting numerical simulation software.This makes the actual production process can not be fully demonstrated by the simulation process,so that the accuracy and reliability of the calculation results are greatly reduced,and there is no engineering practical value.Based on the finite element theory and fluid mechanics,this paper uses the FLUNET module integrated in the large-scale general finite element simulation software ANSYS to study the different gate shapes,gate speeds,and gate heights of steel ingots during the casting process.The effects of liquid flow and temperature field distribution were numerically simulated.The fluctuation of the free surface of the molten steel during the simulation casting process was observed,and the temperature field at the end of filling was obtained,which provided reliable data for further numerical simulation of the solidification and heat dissipation process.In this paper,based on the filling simulation of the solid model of the ingot mold,two different calculation methods are selected,i.e.ideal heat insulation and filling end state as the starting condition of the solidification and heat dissipation process.The temperature field distribution in the filling process of the model is calculated by FLUENT software.The different cooling process of temperature field and the influence of these two calculation methods on the simulation accuracy of solidification and heat dissipation process were observed.The availability of FLUENT software in the simulation of solidification and heat dissipation was verified.
