The research and development of casting solidification process are resumed, the model of the Finite Element Method (FEM) temperature field are introduced and present research and problem of solidification process modeling are put forward in this paper. The boundary condition and latent heat is taken into account by FEM. The model suitable to the practical situation is adopted. Based on Temperature Curve Method (TCM) and Temperature Grads Method (TGM), shrinkage cavities can be predicted. Heat distortion and heat crack can be also predicted by temperature- stress coupling. The CAX simulating and defect predicting technology based on CAD&CAE software is established. The CAX technology has been applied to predict casting defects and optimize foundry techniques in the foundry shop. It is concluded that the satisfactorily simulated agreement with experiment results is obtained. The CAX technology is able to guide production.
