Coordination polymers?CPs?play an important role in chemistry and material science due to their diverse topological frameworks and widely applications in photocatalysis and fluorescence sensors. The N-donor and carboxylate ligand system are the representative selection for constructing CPs.In which, the fully deprotonated/partially deprotonated carboxylic groups can be coordinated with the metal centers using a variety of coordination modes. The flexible bis?benzimidazole?ligands as the typical N-donor ligands can bend or rotate when coordinating to metal centers and consequently generate more robust and intricate networks.Ten new Zn/Cd-based CPs were synthesized by 1,3-bis?benzimidazol-1-yl?-2-propanol?L1?,1,3-bis?5,6-dimethylbenzimidazol-1-yl?-2-propanol?L2?and 1,3-bis?2-methylbenzimidazol-1-yl?-2-propanol?L3?and different kinds of carboxylate ligands. The thermogravimetric, photocatalytic, and luminescence sensing properties were also investigated.1 exhibits a 4-connected 3D hxg/P framework.2 is 2D hcb network.3 forms a 1D chain.4 has a three-fold interpenetrated sqc6 framework.5 possesses a 2D?4,4?-connected 4,4L10 topology.6 displays a 3D?3,5?-connected 3,5T1 framework.7 possesses a 2D sql layer.8 forms a 1D chain.9 forms a 1D chain.10 could be simplified a 3D?3,4?-connected sqc2210 network. The ten coordination polymers have high thermal stabilities.7 shows the highest degradation efficiency for MB compared with other nine complexes.1 can be used as a probe to detect acetone.2 and 6 can be used as sensors to detect Cr2O72– ions.6 can also be used to detect Fe3+ in aqueous solution.Figure 82;Table 10;Reference 70...
