Two-dimensional layered materials have unique structural characteristics, which have attracted remarkable attention in many fields, such as energy storage, solid state lubrication, and catalysts. With continuous exploration on Graphene, other two-dimensional layered materials, such as Transition-metal dichalcogenide, has also gradually catched the attention of scholars. At present, there are various methods for preparing two-dimensional TMDs,such as molecular beam epitaxy?MBE?,mechanical stripping, liquid phase stripping, lithium ion intercalation, chemical vapor deposition?CVD?,and hydrothermal processing. In this paper,Liquid phase stripping with the most promising industrial prospect is selected to prepare two-dimensional TMDs.The liquid phase stripping method has the advantages of high expandability, simple operation method and relatively low production cost, and does not require transfer technology, therefore it is suitable for large-scale production of two-dimensional transition metal sulfides.Hydrogen production from electrolyzed water is one of the preferred methods for preparing clean energy. However,it requires highly active catalysts to promote the efficient reaction. In this paper,we firstly explored a liquid phase stripping method for stripping transition metal sulfides using sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate?SDBS?as a surfactant. The non-polar benzene ring in the SDBS can be strongly combined with the transition metal sulfide to promote efficient stripping of the nanosheets in aqueous solution. The mechanism of this method has been studied and we have found that the stripping efficiency and thickness of TMD nanosheets are related to the concentration of SDBS.By controlling the amount of SDBS in the solution to obtain a defect-free single-layer and small-layer transition metal sulfide nanosheets, the dispersion solution has remained stable in water for several months. The electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution?HER?properties of the obtained Mo S2 and Mo Se2 nanosheets have been tested and compared to study their catalytic hydrogen evolution performance.
