Study On Carbon Currency As A Super-Sovereign Reserve Currency

The current Trump administration's series of economic stimulus policies and the Fed's new round of interest rate hikes have caused the international economic and financial order to turmoil.The inherent weakness of the credit-based international monetary system with the US dollar as the dominant currency has been exposed.The international community is facing the international monetary system.The voice of reform is getting higher and higher.The Kyoto Protocol,which came into effect in 2005,has established a global trading system for intangible goods marked by carbon credits,and at the same time has spawned the concept of “carbon currency”.Carbon currency is one of the hot issues of international significance in the current low-carbon economy,and it is also the key to the future development of the international monetary system.This paper first systematically analyzes the problems and reforms of the current international monetary system,and focuses on the feasibility of super-sovereign currency establishment,and then combines the development of carbon trading market with the attributes of carbon currency and the existence of carbon standard.The significance and advantages of being a super-sovereign reserve currency are summarized and summarized,and the main results of this research field are discussed.Finally,through comparative analysis of different theoretical viewpoints,combined with the shortcomings of the research theory,the paper proposes several schemes for carbon currency as a supersovereign reserve currency from different angles.Establishing a "carbon standard" will mean completely breaking the existing international monetary system and rebuilding a truly super-sovereign and sustainable international monetary system.However,establishing a global super-sovereign currency is an ideal goal.There is a long way to go,and the joint efforts of governments are needed.
