Phenolic organic pollutants in wastewater are difficult to degrade and toxic, which seriously endanger ecosystem and human health. It is imperative to deal with the pollution of phenol-containing wastewater. The cost of photocatalytic treatment of phenol-containing wastewater is low and belongs to the green and environmentally friendly degradation technology.ZnO has become the research hotspot of photocatalytic technology because of its rich raw materials and low cost.Doping is a simple and feasible method to modify ZnO.Rare earth elements are easy to disperse and non-reductive,which is an important way of doping modified ZnO.In this paper, rare earth Er and Pr doped ZnO photocatalysts were successfully prepared by sol-gel method. The effects of heat treatment process, rare earth elements and doping amount on the structure and photocatalytic properties of ZnO were discussed. The results show that rare earth Er and Pr doped ZnO have good degradation effect on MB and phenol-containing wastewater under ultraviolet light. This new material provides a new idea for the treatment of phenol-containing wastewater.Heat treatment temperature and holding time have obvious effects on the structure and photocatalytic properties of ZnO.The results showed that the crystallinity and particle size distribution of ZnO were the best at 600? for 2 hours. The degradation rates of MB,phenol and resorcinol was 30.7%,31.9% and 34.8% after UV irradiation for 150 minutes, respectively. The results of rare earth Er and Pr single doped ZnO showed that when the molar ratio of rare earth Er was 2%,the degradation rate of MB,phenol and resorcinol was96.4%,74.2% and 87.6% after UV irradiation for 150 minutes, respectively; When the molar ratio of rare earth Pr was 3%,the degradation of MB,phenol and resorcinol was94.5%,82.2% and 91.5% after UV irradiation for 150 minutes, respectively. The results of co-doping ZnO with rare earth Er and Pr showed that when the molar ratio of rare earth Er/Pr was 1: 1,the degradation of MB,phenol and resorcinol was 91.6%,70.7%and 81.6% after UV irradiation for 150 minutes, respectively, which were lower than the degradation rates of rare earth Er and Pr single-doped ZnO.The paper has 37 figures,2 tables, and 132 references.
