With the increasing scarcity of fossil resources and the enhancement of people's awareness of environmental protection,using renewable resources instead of fossil resources to produce chemical products will become a trend.Biomass is one of the renewable resource with wide sources,abundant products and low prices,among which furfural is an important one of the biomass platform compounds,the hydrogenation process of furfural to furfuryl alcohol is very mature.Furfuryl alcohol can also be converted into many high value-added chemicals by hydrogenation,such as tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol,1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol,which have broad application prospects and extensive utilization value.Especially in recent years,the demand is increasing rapidly and the supply exceeds the demand,So they can only rely on import,but the price is expensive.The production of1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol in our country mainly adopts the method of using fossil resources as raw materials.So the research and development of furfuryl alcohol catalytic hydrogenation process is of great significance to make full use of biomass resources and improve the import situation of1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol.In this work,the effects of three commercially available Cu-Al,Cu-Mg and Cu-Cr catalysts on the hydrogenation of furfuryl alcohol were first investigated.The results showed that the market-sold Cu-Cr catalysts had the best performance.Then the Cu-Cr catalyst was prepared and characterized in the laboratory.The effects of self-made Cu-Cr catalyst on the catalytic performance of furfuryl alcohol hydrogenation under different reaction conditions were systematically studied.Finally,the thermodynamic data of tetrahydrofurfurfuryl alcohol,1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol,which are the main hydrogenation products of furfuryl alcohol,were estimated and the reaction pathway was analyzed thermodynamically.The results showed that the three kinds of commercially available catalysts had certain catalytic effects on the hydrogenation of furfuryl alcohol,and the Cu-Cr catalyst showed good catalytic activity and selectivity.The conversion of furfuryl alcohol can reach 60.1%,the selectivity of tetrahydrofurfurfuryl alcohol,1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol can reach 9.2%,42.8%and 12.2%respectively under the conditions of reaction temperature 160?,reaction hydrogen pressure 6.0Mpa and the GHSV of0.5h-1.The catalytic effect of self-made Cu-Cr catalyst is slightly lower than the commercially available Cu-Cr catalyst.Under the conditions of reaction temperature 155?,reaction hydrogen pressure 6.0Mpa and the GHSV of0.5h-1,the conversion of furfuryl alcohol reached 55.8%,and the selectivity of tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol,1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol is 6.1%,42.1%and 8.2%respectively.Based on the relationship between products and space velocity,a new reaction pathway for converting furfuryl alcohol to1,2-pentanediol was deduced.On this basis,the thermodynamic data of the main substances are obtained through thermodynamic estimation,and the reaction pathways are systematically analyzed,which can provide theoretical basis for industrial production.
