Study On The Gold And Silver Utensils Of Song Dynasty

During the Sui and Tang dynasties,it was common to the ruling class to use gold and silver utensils.However,the gold and silver utensils have been used as commodities in the daily life of scholar-bureaucrats,wealthy merchants,and even ordinary people after the late Tang Dynasty.Especially Song Dynasty,the restriction of prohibit were slack,and the interaction of the fashion of using things about different social strata was becoming profound,based on the above reasons,gold and silver utensils not only were used in large numbers in banquets,tea parties and other activities,but also in the restaurants,roadside pub and even religious places.Therefore,in such a relatively open social environment,these utensils present a lot of new features that are different from the previous period:ingenious,diversiform,elegance and vulgar combination and both practical and aesthetic characteristics.In general,the patterns are dominated by bionic plant patterns,while the abstract patterns of bird and beast are significantly reduced.The utensils are thin,small,and plentiful in shape.The pattern and the design of the device are suitable.The decorative style is poetic,shibui,applicable and close to the secular life.This article attempts to systematically sort out the characteristics of the gold and silver utensils of the Song Dynasty,and then try to analyze the inherent logic of their design and aesthetics in the context of politics,economy,culture and religion.First of all,starting from the existing physical objects of gold and silver utensils and related literature of the Song Dynasty,consult the research methodology of archeology,and combining the etiquette and customs of the Song Dynasty to classify the utensils.Based on this,this paper mainly analyzes the typical characteristics of the gold and silver utensils in the Song Dynasty from the perspective of design studies,and the typical characteristics of the craftsmanship,decoration patterns,and manufacturing techniques,analyzes their design methods,design thinking and process technology in depth.From the perspective of etiquette and customs,we can shed light on the origin of the aesthetic characteristics of gold and silver utensils in the Song Dynasty.
