With the improvement of city network and the popularization of intelligent distribution network,our country has put forward higherrequirements on the quality of powersupply.When the distribution network failure,timely and reliable fault location is necessary,so as to isolate the fault and restore the power supply.It can be seen that the reliable fault location technology is one of the indispensable conditions for the safe operation of distribution network.In this paper,the bacterial foraging algorithm is introduced to solve the fault location problem of distribution network,and two aspects are deeply studiedwhichincludetheimprovementofthealgorithmand theconstructionoffaultlocation model.Aiming at the shortcomings of the original bacterial foraging algorithm which can only deal with the optimization problem in the continuous domain,the convergence effect is poor and it is easy to fall into the local optimal solution,the learning mechanism of PSO is introduced into the bacteria foraging algorithm,and an improved binary foraging algorithm is proposed in this paper.First,the chemotaxis operator is improved,an improved chemotaxis operator based on "evolutionary domain" and "virtual bacterium" was proposed.The evolutionary operation completes the self-accumulating learning behavior of bacteria,virtual bacteria operation completed the social learning behavior.Secondly,the adaptive step size is used instead of the fixed step size to improve the convergence of the algorithm.Finally,the migration operator is improved and the possibility of deleting the optimal solution is avoided.A "0-1knapsack problem" is giventoillustratetheperformanceofthealgorithm.In the process of constructing the mathematical model,new method abandoned the construction of complex switching functions in the original method.It hides the relationship between the switch and the link to the network relationship matrix,and the impact brought by DG is hided in the DG matrix.At the same time,in order to reduce the network dimensionality and improve the performance of the algorithm,the idea of zone classification is adopted.The network is divided into the trunk area and the branch area.The fault location algorithm can only consider the trunk area and the corresponding branch area.Simulation examples show that this method can be reliable positioning when whether single point of failure occur or multiple points of failure occur,and when the information is distorted this algorithm also has a good fault toleranc.The improved bacterial foraging algorithm is compared with the traditional bacterial foraging algorithm.The proposed algorithm is superior to the traditional bacterialforaging algorithminterms ofconvergence,accuracyandefficiency.
