As an important form of vehicle impact,passive safety devices such as frontal airbags and safety belts can reduce the head and chest injuries of occupants.However,these devices have limited for leg protection of occupants.In the United States and Europe,after a large number of tests to verify the knee airbag cushioning effect,the invention and application of knee airbags can reduce not only occupant leg injuries but also occupant abdominal and upper limb injuries.In the paper,simulated the collision between the positive collision restraint system with a knee airbag and the positive collision restraint system without knee airbag by using MADYMO simulation software,with comparisons of injury indices and time history curves of various parts of the body,the excellent performance of the knee airbag for occupant leg protection in the frontal collision is validated,the protective effect of the frontal impact restraint system is comprehensively analyze d with the knee airbag.First of all,based on the requirements of C-NCAP evaluation rules,CATIA,Hyperworks and MADYMO are used to establish a 100% overlap frontal crash restraint system with fixed barriers.The restraint system includes the car body,the dummy,the knee airbag and the safety belt Wait.The validity of the restraint system is verified by comparing the test results output by the restraint system with the actual vehicle test data and the contrast differences between the test results are briefly analyzed.Secondly,applying the same stimulus to the two restraint systems and the protective effect of the knee airbag is validated through the simulation output of the two restraint systems.At the same time,according to the test results,the advantages and disadvantages of the knee airbag for driver protection during the frontal collision are analyzed,and the optimization direction of the restraint system is determined according to the shortcomings.Finally,aiming at the existing problems of the restraint system with knee airbag installed,the optimization scheme of the restraint system is determined.The final optimization parameters are determined by restraint system sensitivity analysis,and the restraint system is optimized by orthogonal experiment design.The range of orthogonal test results is analyzed to determine the optimal knee airbag parameter combinations,the optimal parameters into the constraint system for simulation analysis verify the effectiveness of the optimization work.
