Automotive industry is a highly integrated industry.Modern automotive electronics industry has developed into a new pattern based on computer science,semiconductor component,photoelectric test and integrated circuit.Under such situation,behavior of electronic components and functional units for automobile is becoming extremely important.As the core component to ensure the stability of the automotive power supply system,voltage regulator for automobile requires more and more functions and performance.In this paper,the current status of automotive power supply system at home and abroad is analyzed,and the characteristics and the development trend of current voltage regulator for automobile are briefly described.A voltage regulator for automobile compatible with LDO and PWM(pulse width modulation)is designed by using CSMC 0.5?m CMOS technology.With the regulation of PWM,the LDO maintains high efficiency under the large fluctuation of generator output voltage and improve the output efficiency of the voltage regulator.And the fluctuation of the output voltage caused by switching excitation current is reduced through LDO,thus the accuracy of the output voltage is improved.The structure of voltage regulator circuit including voltage reference,LDO,triangle-wave generator,PWM and protection part is designed and analyzed in this work.All functions are simulated and verified using Cadence.The design provides an output voltage of 12.35Vą0.28 V with 12.5V-15 V power supply and maximum output current is 1.2A.Also this design provides a PWM signal.The static power of the total circuit is 28.77 mW.
