Concrete is a building material which is quantity and most versatile in modern civil engineering construction projects.Because of more and more cost spent on fixing reinforced concrete corrosion damage, the durability of concrete are increasingly concerned about. The concrete interior was protected from external corrosion substance penetration or diffusion in by concrete surface protection. Then, the durability of the concrete was enhanced. We raised a composite protection system, which is combined infiltration with paintcoat in this study which aimed at surface protection technology.By comparing the infiltration protection system, paintcoat protection system and infiltration&paintcoat composite protection system, the research of protective effect was expanded for the protective system. This study also analyzes a variety of factors, designed comprehensive test contents by 13 types of test such as carbonation, water percolation, electrochemical corrosion, accelerated aging test and so on.In this study,we choose some more advanced and prevalence surface-protection materials until present. These materials were tested for studying the effectiveness and durability of concrete, providing base dates of dam surface protection materials selection. The materials which used in this study and protection systems, have a certain protective effect to concrete. The paincoat materials are superior to infiltration materials on impermeability, and between paincoat materials, fluorocarbon material,in terms of resistance to water vapor permeability or chloride ion penetration is better than polyurea material. The proposed infiltration&fluorocarbon composite coating protection system is superior to that of only infiltration system or only paintcoat system, and it can significantly improve the durability of reinforced concrete structures. For the durability of the material itself, the paincoat materials are better than the infiltration materials in the weatherability, and in the paincoat materials, fluorocarbon material is better than polyurea material in the weatherability. For the dam use,the fluorocarbon material is also slightly better than the polyurea material.Research shows that the designed scheme was comprehensive, and able to include all primary corrosion damage factors which surface protection technology were facing to.The proposed infiltration&fluorocarbon composite coating protection system is the best in protection. This technology could significantly improve the durability of reinforced concrete structures. This experimental data from study directly provide the base dates for the dam protective materials selection.
