With the rapid development of China's social construction and economic level, people's living standard has been steadily improved, and the requirements for the comfort of life have become higher and higher. How to build a good residential indoor thermal environment and reduce building energy consumption has become one of the key topics of current research.Occupancy between different family members in residential building is quite different because of discrepancies in age, living habit and nature of work,so that different kinds of people has different indoor thermal comfort feelings in the same building, resulting in diverse air conditioning(AC)activity and energy consumption. At present, although more detailed investigation has been carried out on the activity patterns of residents at home and abroad, there are few studies on the differences in the behavior patterns of different types of people because of their different research purposes. At the same time, the existing indoor thermal environment and energy consumption evaluation indicators canno t accurately reflect the subjective feelings of indoor thermal environment and the difference of air conditioning energy consumption caused by different types of people. This paper launched the survey and analysis regarding hourly occupancy of three different kinds of people in Changsha, amending the existing indoor long –term thermal environment and energy consumption indicators with the indoor occupancy coefficient. On the basis of the study, indoor thermal environment and energy consumption in a typical residential building for four kinds of typical family structures in Changsha were simulated and comparatively analyzed. On the basis of the reference building, the influence of the change of the parameters of the envelope structure on the indoor thermal environment and the air conditioning energy consumption of different structural families is studied by changing the thickness of the insulation layer, the south window to wall ratio, the length of the southern sun shading board, the heat transfer coefficient and the solar heat gain coefficient of window glass. The Result showed that occupancy of different kinds of people was significantly different during the day.Besides, the higher the occupancy, the more obvious of the importance of indoor thermal comfort and the higher of the energy consumption. In the non air–conditioned environment, the improvement of indoor thermal environment should be mainly concerned in winter. In the air–conditioned environment, the energy saving design of residential buildings in summer should be mainly considered. Therefore,we should make special emphasis on the passive design strategy of buildings for different family structures. The research result of this article can provide reference for design of energy efficiency of residential building.
