Congestion in urban traffic is a common concern problem in today's society,which seriously affects the development of urban economy and the daily travel life of people.Intersection as the distribution point for urban road traffic,is the key nodes which affect the traffic congestion.So the good signal control for intersection is an effective way to solve the road congestion.However,it is no effect only to optimize a crowded intersection or a crowded road because of the complex of the city road and the relevance for each intersections.The intersection should be divided into the same area for coordinated control according to the traffic division principle,so that the problem of congestion in urban road can be solved.Combined with the current research status of domestic and abroad urban traffic control in this paper,according to the basic methods of traffic control and the principle of the traffic area division,built a control optimization model of urban traffic signal by the goal for the minimum delay of the intersection in a traffic area.The delay calculation formula in the optimal control model is divided into two types,one is for the vehicles of the network edge driving into the network,the other is for the vehicles which driving in the network.The offset between two intersections is used to be the influence parameters for calculating delay in the second calculation formula.Through the actual research for the area which needing to optimize,it get the traffic control parameters such as cycle time,phase time,delay in intersection and so on.The timing and period of the investigation are brought into the delay calculation model to get the delay,then compared with the actual investigation and the feasibility of the model is verified;After the establishment of the optimal control model are applied in traffic optimization control of route and area.The genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimal control model,and the new signal timing scheme is obtained.The total delay of the intersection of the optimized main line and the regional road network have been improved,which proves the effectiveness of the proposed control model.
