500 kV ultra-high pressure overhead transmission lines is Main frame of power grid in our country, but most of transmission line is located in the wilderness, mountain complex topography and meteorological conditions, such as area, very vulnerable to lightning strike.Currently, happen every year all over the country provinces ultra-high voltage power line is a line lightning tripping, through understanding, this paper analyses the lightning trip generation principle, forming process and impact, combined with nearly five years in south power network in hebei province transmission line lightning trip data analysis, understand the different terrain, different tower, tower height and other circumstances, how to more effectively improve the transmission line lightning protection level, reducing transmission line lightning trip-out rate, reduce the lightning effect on the safety of power grid, this is our the main task of this subject. We want to raise the level of the transmission line lightning protection, the first thing to ensure smooth transmission line discharge channels to transmission channel ground wire or iron tower after being struck by lightning, can quickly to lightning current into the earth. The grounding device is particularly important in the process, this topic through the study of a new type of REO [rare earth oxides,is short for rare earth oxide)grounding technology,to study transmission line lightning protection technology,at the same time we to study how to reduce to the maximum tower grounding resistance, thus ensuring smooth discharge channel of transmission lines,in order to enhance reliability of transmission lines.
