Research On The Protection And Renewal Of The Traditional Settlement In Xilin Village From The Perspective Of Regional Culture

In recent years,domestic emphasis has been given to the reviving of Chinese traditional culture,and as one of its living spaces and carriers,traditional settlements draw widening social attention.Exploring cultural elements of traditional settlements is of great significance in improving the status quo of the settlements—the loss of characteristics,the breakdown of cultural continuity and the fading of memory.The shaping of culture is not determined by any dynasty or individual,but graduallyformed in daily life as time moves forward.Therefore,Whether a settlement is large or not,its spatial layout complicated or not,and its architectural structure unique or not,its cultural connotation and historical significance reflect the characteristics of a certain region and a certain group of people.Culture-oriented practices of improving settlements are gradually breaking through the singularity of physical space planning.Xilin village was granted as a historical and cultural village of Fujian Province in 2016.Its unique regional culture has a tremendous impact on the construction and development of Xilin village.Being assessed as historical and cultural village does not mean the end of village protection work but a beginning.This research employed such methods as field research,literature review and summarization to analyze the internal relationship between regional culture and Xilin village,and explore the methods of protection and renewal in Xilin village.This research is divided into three major parts.The first part,also the first chapter,introduces related concepts,and briefly reviews the protection history and formation theories of traditional settlements at home and abroad,so as to put forward research objects and research perspectives of this research.The second part includes the second,third and fourth chapters.Through literature review and on-site investigation,the research objects are thoroughly understood,Xilin village's regional cultural background,settlement patterns and architectural features analyzed,based on which its inherent laws of development are further explored.The third part,also the last chapter,concludes the current situation of Xilin village.It finds the current situation of Xilin village and puts forward the objectives,principles and strategies of Xilin village protection and renovation from the perspective of regional culture.On the basis of this,from the three aspects of overall layout,node space and individual building,Xilin village is taken for analysis,hopefully as reference for further enhancement of settlements' protection and renewal.
