With the development of the current society and the rapid growth of the economy, the demand for the stability of the power grid is becoming stronger and stronger.A power outage accident may bring some losses to some factories, mines, hospitals, schools and other enterprises and institutions. Thus,it is very important to ensure the reliability of power supply. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the operation state of the transformer. At present,in the actual work of the electric power industry, the state maintenance mode is mainly used to ensure the safe operation of each transmission and transformation equipment. In terms of transformer, gas chromatography is usually used to analyze the content of dissolved gas in transformer oil to determine whether the transformer works normally, which is very sensitive and effective in finding early diagnosis of internal faults in power equipment. If the fault is identified, the improved three ratio method can be used to diagnose the fault type. This method can accurately diagnose the internal fault types of transformers.A MATLAB program is designed for transformer oil chromatogram analysis and transformer fault diagnosis based on improved three ratio method, the program from the judgment of value is exceed the standard and pay attention to the gas production rate will exceed the standard two aspects of fault diagnosis and fault type identification for transformer fault diagnosis, reduce the manual time for timely diagnose and eliminate transformer the proposed fault help safeguard the security and stability of power grid.At the same time, there are some defects in the improved three ratio method, for example, the location of the fault point can not be judged. There, the judgment method of fault location was introduced based on basic theory knowledge of transformer oil chromatographic analysis and the analysis of the actual work in the case.
