Pathological section detection is an essential means of clinical cancer diagnosis,and the traditional detection methods usually utilize tissue microscopic imaging technology.In the imaging process,the polarization information of tissue is often neglected,but polarization characteristic can reflect the microstructure difference,providing a new reference information for cancer diagnosis.In order to obtain comprehensive polarization information of biological tissue,a polarization microscopic imaging system based on dual-rotating retarder is designed in this paper.Arduino Uno and stepper motor are employed to control the polarization state modulation of incident light and exit light,meanwhile,the transmission mechanism of polarization state modulation is realized by timing belt transmission mode,which ensures high efficiency and transmission accuracy of retarder rotation driven by stepping motor.Ultimately,the system software is designed through Matlab platform,and Mueller matrix polarization image of pathological tissue could be obtained.Mueller matrix imaging are performed separately for three common cancers,such as liver cancer,lung cancer and basal cell carcinoma.Results show that the system can acquire complete polarization information of pathological tissue.The difference in polarization of cancerous and non-cancerous tissue is obvious in the image of polarization information expressed by the Mueller matrix elements,which is beneficial to distinguish cancerous and non-cancerous tissue.It indicates that polarization imaging technique has potential application value in the field of pathological detection.
