The design and development of the chassis system are important parts of the development of the vehicle.The vehicle performance and the key parts of the chassis are connected with the suspension K&C characteristics,so the researches on the K&C characteristics of the suspension and the development of the suspension system have become important subjects of the chassis research.The main researches of this paper were conducted as follows:Firstly,the current research status of the suspension K&C characteristics at home and abroad was introduced.The definition of suspension K&C characteristics and the basic parameters for evaluating the K&C characteristics were described in detail,and the influence of the suspension K characteristics and C characteristics on the performance of the vehicle was qualitatively analyzed.The application of virtual prototyping technology in suspension simulation and the development of suspension K&C test bench were introduced.Secondly,A three-degree-of-freedom vehicle model with steering wheel input taking roll steering and roll camber into consideration was established to analyze the effect of roll steering and roll camber on steady steering.The parametric model of whole vehicle was conducted by CarSim,and the influence of K&C characteristics on handling stability was analyzed.In this paper,step-by-step design including suspension characteristic optimization and suspension structure optimization was applied to the chassis development.The suspension characteristic optimization was first step.CarSim and Matlab were integrated with Isight to optimize the vehicle suspension's K&C characteristics and obtain the target K&C characteristics,which lay the foundation for the following suspension structure optimization.The suspension structure optimization was second step.ADAMS/Insight was used for sensitivity analysis of hard point coordinates,and appropriate design variables were selected to improve the efficiency of optimization.Front suspension model was established by ADAMS/Car.The suspension characteristic samples were obtained by ADAMS/Car simulation analysis.The nonlinear relationship between hard points and suspension K&C characteristics was modeled by generalized regression neural network model(GRNN).The optimization of the suspension structure was performed by the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm.The results show that the K&C range of the optimized suspension decreases obviously.
