Study On The Design Of Special Expressway Service Area In Southwest China

Expressway,as an important component of transportation,plays a significant role in the modernization of the country.Expressway service area is an important node on the highway,people will pay more and more attention on how to build a reasonable service area.With the continuous improvement of China’s expressway network,rapid social development,and constant improvement in the quality of life,passengers and drivers are no longer satisfied with the existing functional facilities and stereotyped landscape models in most service areas,and they will have more demand on functions,landscape,and culture etc.as well as the demand on creating the highway service area with regional characteristics.Thus,spiritual needs are also greatly enriched while meeting physiological needs.As a gathering place for a large number of ethnic minorities,the Southwestern region has rich and colorful history and culture.Therefore,in the construction of expressway service areas in the southwestern region,we should make full use of the local natural environment,explore local culture,and fully create expressway service areas with regional characteristics while satisfying the functions of the service area.The article takes the expressway service area in the southwestern area as the research object,determines the research content according to the research status at home and abroad,clarifies the research purpose and significance so as to get a reasonable research method and framework.Secondly,we outline the relevant contents of expressway service area,summarizes the definition,general layout and location selection factors,scale and type,function as well as the role of expressway service area.Based on the understanding of the basic contents,the status quo of highway service areas in Southwestern region was investigated,and the inadequacies of the service areas were analyzed through the status quo so as to lay down the foundation for the design concepts and methods of characteristic expressway service areas in the southwestern region.At the same time,we analyze the excellent cases of expressway service areas and draw lessons from them.Through field research and case studies,the design concepts and design methods of the expressway service area in the southwestern region have been proposed to provide theoretical support for design practice.Then according to different regional characteristics,we choose different design concepts and methods for design practice.Finally,we summarize the full text,achievements and deficiencies of the research,and forecast the prospects for the construction of special expressway service areas in Southweste China.
