Design Research On Adaptive Aging Residential Environments Based On "Huang-lao" Health Preserving Philosophy

Humans approached civilization from barbarism for better living and development.Chinese civilization is the only one which stretches across the three generations of civilization(ancient civilization,classical civilization,modern civilization),as a carrier of Oriental culture and philosophy,which casts magnificent silhouette in the history of world civilization.In the moment of highlighting the ecological and environmental crisis,the ideology about "nature-human integration" is gradually agreed over world.Nowadays global aging situation is grim and China has stepped into aging society in the20 th century and into aged society in the early 21 st century.It is now in the stage of rapid aging.Aging before wealthy,empty-nest elderly phenomenon both made home-based care for the aged become a serious issue.The domestic correlation studies started in the 1980 s,but research findings have not yet entered the lives of the elderly,indicating a certain gap between the existing research and the actual situation.There is no accepted definition of Adaptive Aging Residential Design.So I have defined it pithily as " personalized design for helping the elderly to preserve their health in sake of health".Currently studies are mostly concentrated on six aspects such as Pension Mode,Residential Demand of the Elderly,Residential Facilities,Senior Housing Design,Residential Universal Design and Adaptive Aging Residential Systematic Design.However reviewing the core values of research findings,I found it is all about "substance",namely,Material Health.During Postgraduate period I have a relatively deep understanding on the definition of the research object,defining the problem and research methods and tools by interdisciplinary study.Though studying traditional classics and field research,I've finally proposed the core values of Adaptive Aging Residential Design as Mental Health.And I've also proposed the design view about Adaptive Aging Residential Design which is adapt to China's actual condition and home-based care for the Chinese Aged and discussed the design issue on Adaptive Aging Residential Environments by the case a residential area in Chongqing District.There are three core conclusions in this paper.1)Mental Health is the core of the adaptive aging residential environmental design.2)"Huang-Lao" health philosophy and the relationship between the adaptive aging residential environment is dynamic.Initially the adaptive aging residential environmental design playing the role of the guide,guides the elderly into the Mental Health through.And then in turn people who get point of Mental Health will gradually dilute the design itself.3)to adapt to China's national conditions,in line with the home of the old age of aging design concept-Based on the "Huang-Lao",designers should absorb nutrients from the "Huang-Lao" health preserving philosophy and make the Chinese traditional philosophy into the corresponding design to activate Chinese people's cultural genes subtly.Finally people's health awareness and traditional culture resonate,ultimately they become the owner of their own old-age life.
