The Cases Study Of Stone Material Application In Contemporary Building Skin

From the ancient era of caveman,so far,stone has been the main building material for a long time.In the world,the stone is widely used in the pyramid of Africa,the church of Europe,or the temple hall of China.Although there are differences in the way stone is used,it is undeniable that the stone has played an extremely important role in the history of architecture.Under the ideological trend of modernism,the widespread use of steel,concrete,glass and other materials,people think that a stone is heavy and difficult to shape.Meanwhile,structural characteristics of stone reduced its wide use also.During this period,the application of stone in architecture gradually declined.In the contemporary era,with the widespread use of modern materials such as steel,concrete,glass,as well as the monotony of building construction in China,have also prompted us to reflect on modernism.All of these make us have to wonder whether the traditional materials that we have abandoned in the modern era should be picked up again.As a result,contemporary architects’ new attempts on traditional materials like stone have slowly revived the resurgence.With this background,the stone showed a newfound and new vitality.The reason is that the stone got rid of chains as the main structural materials for thousands of years and began to appear as decorative materials.At the same time,the contemporary variety of different concepts,new processing technology,new processing tools,lead the stone processing into a new world with a new possibility.This paper is intended to select a large number of stone skin application in contemporary buildings and trying to analyze cases.At the same time,the selection of stone,the design strategy of stone,the structure of stone,and the development of stone should be considered also.All these works are aimed to summarize the laws and the processes to provide architects more options and information in stone application in buildings skin.With the resurgence of stone in the future and the development of diverse uses in buildings,such research is needed urgently.
