With the economic advancement and improvement of the quality of life, the output and quantity of vehicles are increasing rapidly. The sustained and rapid increase in the number of vehicles in cities has brought serious challenges to urban environmental pollution.Vehicle emission pollution, especially particle size of small particles on the human body caused great damage, the existence of the potential threat of photochemical smog,a direct impact on people's health. The control of car exhaust emission is the key problem for the polity and the people. Therefore, all countries are taking active measures for vehicle pollution,in addition to actively support the development of new energy vehicles. They elaborate increasingly stringent emission regulations, vehicle emission standards and establish vehicle pollution control system, and propose technology and management of a series of complete matching system. This paper aims to analyze the impact of road gradient, signal timings and traffic demand on vehicle emissions at the signalized intersection. The paper focuses on the microscopic model. The model uses the VSP method and the operational research method. It uses the VISSIM traffic simulation software and MATLAB programming and calculation software to complete the road and intersection modeling and traffic data collection. The findings of this research shows up the relationship between the road gradient and emission factors. There is clear evidence that different road gradients cause variations in the emission factors. It is noticed that the emission factors during the green light are usually much higher than during the red light.Positive road grade simulations yield an increase in emission factors, and negative road grades lead to reductions in emission factors. However, over emission factors in uphill are not fully compensated with the saving produced in downhill situation. The traffic demand has a high impact on concentrations of CO,HC and NO_x emission factors. On gradient road the emission factor values are minimal when utilizing Webster signal timings. These results are important since may provide more accurate guidance for planning and research of urban road network and reducing the sustainable development of automobile exhaust. These may also contribute to better modeling and should be considered in future studies.
