Research On Establishing The National Monuments In China’s Capital Region And Its Significance

In modern international society,cultural soft power is playing a more and more significant role in international competition.However,compared with its economic influence,China’s cultural influence still needs improving.Because of the misunderstandings existing in our country’s cultural inheritance as well as aggressive cultural invasion from other countries,we need to strengthen the profound understanding of our five-thousand-year’s civilization and seek better ways to inherit it.At present,China is still faced with national unity crisis and sovereignty disputes internationally,we need enhance our national cohesion as well as conveying the idea of peace and harmony to the international society.Being at a crucial development stage,where we develop steadily for nearly seventy years after war years,and also step so close to the “Two Centenary Goals” proposed by Communist Party of China,China should unite more people to construct the country,and reflect on the development in the past century at the same time.Besides,Beijing’s goal of achieving “world city” also raises higher requirements of building better national image and cultural functions in the capital region.In the complex national and international context,China need to strengthen the national cohesion,enhance our people’s national cultural identity and cultural confidence,and build a new capital region with higher cultural value and more distinctive and representative image.Based on such cognition,the research focuses on the “national monument”,reflecting on the neglect of cultural resources’ commemoration,cultural origination and influences on political and social life in our country’s existing cultural protection system,hoping to supplement relevant contents.Besides,through study on national monuments,the research hopes to provide new ideas and development paths for Beijing’s urban construction in upgrading capital functions.The research sets out from two aspects of study: one is the tradition of the national memorial ceremonies and national monuments in ancient China,finding that China has the traditions of worshiping the mountains and rivers,sages and heroes as well as the origin of Chinese civilization since ancient times;the other is the practice of national monuments in foreign countries,finding that part of the countries with powerful culture attach great significance to the national monuments(especially in the capital region),with which to enhance the country’s core value and establish its identity and image.Besides,the subjects and the administrative systems of the national monuments differ in different countries.There still exist lots of problems regarding the status quo of China’s national monuments.The memorial meaning of some traditional monuments still need studying.More commemorative spaces are needed to record the painful memories of China’s war history,the rise of country’s modern science and technology and some other important historic events.Faced with the complex international situation,China also need establish national monuments to express its ideas and stance.In comparison with other countries,it is founded that building national monuments in capital region also could provide political,cultural,economic,social and urban spatial values.It is necessary that China should establish national monuments.Based on our country’s history and culture,the research tries to propose the concept,intension and management mechanism of China’s national monuments.Finally,on the basis of the existing national monuments in the capital region,the research studies the spatial pattern of the capital’s national monuments in the future.
