The stone structure is one of the important structures of town and village buildings,which is sturdy,durable and convenient to get meaterials.In recent years,with the improvement of stone cutting technology,machine-sawing stone has gradually replaced the traditional handmade stone and become the main raw materials.Because of the smooth interface of the machine-sawing stone,the shear performance of the mortar joint is quite different from that of the traditional stone walls,so it is necessary to study its shear performance.Twelve double shear specimens with cement mortar joint and seven double shear specimens with cement paste mortar joint were tested under monotonic static loading.Based on the test results,the failure process,shear mechanism and design method of the machine-sawing stone mortar joint were studied.The main results are as follows:(1)All mortar joints of the specimens exhibited brittle shear failure.The failure process of the mortar joints can be divided into three stages: the elastic stage,the cracking damage stage and the friction-sliding stage.The displacements corresponding to the peak loads of the specimens varied from 0.52 to 3.81 mm.The load-carrying capacity of each specimen became constant after it dropped to a certain value because of the friction effect.The residual capacity was approximately proportional to the compressive stress.(2)The shear strength of the mortar joint increased as the mortar strength or the compressive stress increased.The shear strength of the cement mortar joint was greater than that of the corresponding cement paste joint,while the shear stiffness presented and opposite trend.(3)Based on the regression analysis of the test data,formulas for the shear strength of the machine-sawing stone mortar joint were derived.The calculated results are in good agreement with the test results.This provides a design basis for the application of the machine-sawing stone processing technology in engineering practice.
