The traditional power grid occurs various drawbacks because of the increasing demand, the reliability and quality of electricity using on the power system of consumers. As a result, smart grid is generally welcomed by people due to its high reliability, high security, high efficiency and clean and environmentally friendly features.Compared with the traditional power grid, the outstanding feature of the smart grid is the two-way current and communication flow, and the key factor to achieve this feature is the deployment of the Advanced Measurement System. However, with the popularization of the smart grid, more and more privacy issues are exposed.Due to the complexity of the smart grid and the continuous application of new technologies, the traditional security and privacy protection mechanisms can not be directly applied. There is growing need for new protection mechanisms to solve these problems. This paper is based on the systematic study of smart grid privacy protection, put forward the corresponding solutions aiming at protecting the privacy when data transmission and querying in smart grid.In smart grid, smart meters are the metering devices that are responsible for collecting users' information about their electricity consumption.Smart meters provide an effective means for control center to monitor the power supply and consumption in a timely and accurate fashion. However, the collection of users' metering reports through an untrusted public network raises a serious privacy concern of users.Even though a lot of privacy-preserving approaches that have been proposed in the literature for secure data transmission, they are not directly applicable to the scenario of collecting metering reports in smart grids due to the limited computational resources of smart meters and the networking environment of smart grid.In this paper,we propose a lightweight privacypreserving scheme for metering data collection in smart grid based on Diffie-Hellman key exchange method. Our scheme is no need for users' metering devices to carry out intensive encryption and decryption operations and no need of a trusted third party for key generation and key management.Besides that, our scheme is scalability. It can cater for large scale of users connected via public networks.Experiment results show that the proposed scheme is efficiently and lightweight and is suitable for privacy-preserving data collection in smart grids. In smart grid information systems, the electricity usage data should be audited by data users, such as the market analysts to finish their tasks.Besides that, electricity company always outsources the data to the cloud server to release its data management pressure.Since the CS is untrusted and the detailed electricity usage data contains users' privacy, the privacy concern of the data and data users' queries is raised.Although many schemes have been proposed to achieve the encrypted data query in smart grid, they are not applied well due to the numeric attributes in electricity usage data and privacy concern in smart grid application. In this paper,we provide an efficient privacy-preserving scheme for range query in smart grid. Our scheme achieves the range query without disclosing the privacy of the data and queries. And the performance shows that our scheme can reduce the computation cost for both the data owner and data users, and shorten the response time of every query, which is great significance for smart grid application.
