At present,three-dimensional design(3D design)has been widely introduced to the main design unit of the electric power industry.3D design has been gradually into the substation design domain,and it has cause the attention of the major design institutes.3D design is a new generation of digital,virtual and intelligent design platform.It is a new generation of design technology that takes 3D space technology as the symbol and digital technology as the link,integrates the design information of various specialties.Compared with two-dimensional design(2D design),3D design is characterized by "space" and "digitization".Using 3D design means,within the substation professional the whole process of circulation and optimize the general layout of substation design is very necessary.It is not only an opportunity for engineering design industry,is also a challenge.This paper makes a deep research on the method of 3D design,which is applied in high voltage substations in practical engineering design.Using the characteristics of space,the 3D design can realize complex underground pipeline layout,cable optimization layout,collision inspection,construction simulation,visual display and so on.Using the characteristics of digitization,the main wiring design(such as extracting the main wiring parameters from equipment attributes,automatically generating the main wiring parameter table,etc.),electrical calculation(such as lightning protection calculation),engineering quantity statistics,material reporting,construction progress management,operation and maintenance management,digital handover and so on can be realized.The 3D design process described in this paper has great theoretical significance on the optimization of the general layout design of substation and the digital transfer of substation after the completion of the project.The research results can be directly used in practical engineering,greatly improve the quality and efficiency of engineering design.
