Due to the development of society and economy,the living standards of the elderly have been continuously improved,and their lifestyles and consumption characteristics have changed a lot.The function and shape of elderly-aid product tend to be homogenized,and it is no longer able to meet the growing emotional needs of older users.CMF,the abbreviation of Color,Material,Finish(the color,material,surface treatment is replaced by the abbreviation “CMF”),is an important part of the product design.It takes the perceptual experience of the product as a breakthrough,based on aesthetics and innovation as the criterion.The designer combines color,materials and surface treatment techniques organically to give new quality to the product,and to design products that truly meet the needs of consumers.The article is based on a 60-70-year-old,literate,active,and open-minded groups.In theoretical research,by summarizing the research status of CMF and assistant products,the author analyzes the guiding significance and limitations of the existing theory on CMF design of assistant products.Through the theoretical research on Kansei Engineering and CMF color elements,material elements and surface treatment elements,CMF III and the realation on Kansei Engineering and CMF design process for the elderly-aid product is summarized.Based on the research process of Kansei Engineering,combined with the trend of product CMF design,a complete set of CMF design process for the elderly-aid product is constructed,including four stages: pre-study,theme analysis,element extraction and practice verification.The Pre-study mainly analyzes the needs of old products and elderly users.The theme analysis stage should summarize the characteristics of elderly users and the trend of designing elderly-aid products,and derive the theme of CMF design for helping the elderly.The element extraction stage is the process to collect,screen,and determine the product-related vocabulary and product CMF samples,and supplement the sample with the product CMF design trend,and extracting CMF design elements by using semantic difference method to establish the correspondence between perceptual vocabulary and product CMF elements.In the practice verification phase,the extracted elements are applied to the product,and finally the CMF design scheme is evaluated and verified.In practical research,taking the elderly household oxygen machine as an example,the design practice is carried out according to the CMF design flow of the old product.Through the use of market research and analysis methods to obtain the needs of elderly users and the development status and trends of elderly household oxygen machines,three CMF design themes have been established.Taking the theme of "modern fusion" as an example,combined with the trend of perceptual engineering and CMF design,the semantic difference method is used to establish the correspondence between user’s perceptual image and CMF design elements,and the design elements are extracted and given to the product.The CMF design of the oxygen machine;the semantic difference method is used to evaluate the CMF design,and the feasibility of the CMF design process for the old product is verified.The CMF design method for helping the elderly products proposed in this paper provides design methods that can be used by the old product designers to meet the spiritual needs of the elderly and improve the quality and market competitiveness of the old products.
