Nanjing OCT Contemporary Art Terminal Design And Research On Its Public Space And Format Plan

This graduation project origins from the practical project of azl architects--Nanjing OCT Contemporary Art Terminal Project.OCT Contemporary Art Terminal serves as a happy coastal matched project for Nanjing Overseas Chinese Town.The Happy Coast Project is located in the south of Jiajiang River in Jianye District,Nanjing,north of Yangzijiang Avenue.The Art Terminal is located in the easternmost part of the Happy Coast Project site E.The planned building on the north side is the Yubei planning exhibition center.The south side is the bus terminal and cinema,the east side is Wuhou Street,and the west side faces the sunk plaza with water curtain.In the case selection and study of the individual building in the art center in the commercial block,I found two problems in such projects:First,from the temperament and function of the building,it is independent of the existence of the entire plot.There is less public space.When the gallery is closed,it directly closes the connection with the whole block.Second,the art center does not take advantage of the commercial block which has the advantage to bring more flow of people and profit.Therefore,I decided to conduct a targeted study on the design and layout of indoor and outdoor public spaces in the art center of the commercial district while completing the graduation design.The study focuses on how to combine the indoor public space with the art center's exhibition circulation;What is the connection between the outdoor public space and the block;how does the commercial function of the art center integrated with the business system of the block;and to determine what function the public space is needed through the analysis of the block format,etc.I hope that through the research of this topic,the content of the analysis and reference,combined with the various actual conditions of the project,will be applied to this graduation design,and also provide a little new idea and reference for this art center in commercial block design which is of research potential.In the case selection of the study,the selected conditions are indoor and outdoor public spaces that serve as continuations of cities and neighborhoods,functions as cultural or artistic displays,and cultural buildings located in commercial blocks or commercial complexes.The two types of architectural cases are summarized,and the design strategies of the art center buildings located in commercial blocks in public space and format plan are obtained.Through its application in graduation design,its feasibility was verified.This paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction part,it introduces the origin of the paper;defines the study background and signi ficance;determines the study content and research methods.The second chapter is the project overview,detailing the location of the this design project,master plan,the original task book that the owner provided and design basis.The third chapter is design research,using the method of case study,through the analysis of the established OCT Contemporary Art Terminal project in China,supplementing the original task book provided by the owner;analyzing the established cultural projects at home and abroad,focusing on the analysis of the combination of indoor and outdoor public space with city and block,and the relation between structural design of the building and the public space,as well as the design of the cultural buildings in the commercial district,etc.The fourth chapter is the analysis of architectural design,it introduces the design thinking of the graduation design on site,functional,format,indoor and outdoor public space,graphic design,facade material,structural particularity,etc.It also includes the application of research parts in public space design and format plan.The fifth chapter is the renderings and technical drawings for the graduation project.
