With the rapid development of urban economy, traffic congestion in major cities has seriously affected the efficiency of urban traffic and brought about environmental pollution. It has become an important factor that restricts the economic development of cities. As the arterial road of the city,it is responsible for the main traffic in the city. The improvement of traffic efficiency has an important role in improving the overall traffic efficiency of the city. For this reason, this paper analyzes the traffic operation status of main roads by using the basic traffic flow graph theory method, and studies the problem of congestion sub-area control based on the sub-region partition of arterial roads. The main research work and innovation point of this paper includes:(1)Based on the traffic flow of urban arterial roads, fundamental diagram model of urban intersections is established, and the influence of single point control and coordination control on the fundamental diagram model of intersections is analyzed. The correspondence between traditional traffic evaluation index and traffic state analysis based on fundamental diagram is analyzed.(2)A macroscopic fundamental diagram of urban arterial roads is established based on simulation data to describe the macroscopic evolution trend of traffic status of urban arterial roads. The influence of intersection spacing, signal control and coordination on macroscopic fundamental diagram of arterial road is analyzed.(3)On the basis of the macroscopic fundamental diagram model of urban arterial roads, the influence of the number of coordinated intersections of arterial roads is analyzed, and the indicators such as the distance between adjacent intersections, signal timing, discrete traffic flow, saturation, and speed are comprehensively considered. The results of different threshold values are compared and analyzed, and the macroscopic fundamental diagram is used to evaluate the effect of arterial zoning. And then, based on the macroscopic fundamental diagram of the arterial road sub-region,the input and output model of sub-region is established, and the feedback control law of sub-region boundary input flow is designed to prevent the transition of sub-region to congestion state. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation. The research results of this paper can provide new ideas and method for traffic signal control and management of urban arterial lines.
