Space Characteristics Of Quantitative Analysis Of Geyuan Garden In Yangzhou Based On Space Syntax Theory

Traditional garden space research can be divided into qualitative research and quantitative research.Qualitative research can also be called sensory analysis,which subjectively describes space of traditional garden by text description with analysis graphics,photographs additionally.Quantitative research through the field research to collect and analyze the data.It can reflect the space rules of traditional garden by the figures.The development of computer and software makes the quantitative research gradually become the mainstream.The descriptions of the traditional garden space have reached the exact level by the figures,instead of simple text narrative,graphic representation and other principled statements.Among quantitative research,Space Syntax Theory studies the nature of space by taking the space as an independent element based on Topology.It has been applied in large-scale urban street space,urban and rural planning and other fields and accumulated relevant experience.At present,the application of Space Syntax Theory in traditional garden space is mainly concentrated in the northern royal gardens and Suzhou gardens.It hasn't be used in Yangzhou gardens.This paper chooses Yangzhou garden as the research object,taking the part of the historical Geyuan Garden as an example,try to quantitatively analyze the space from another method.Author builds different models in knee-level and eye-level,combined with the elements of the garden based on Space Syntax Theory.After Depthmap software operation,selection of connectivity values,control values,mean depth values and integration values combined with the actual feeling,explore the space characteristics of garden,and optimization strategy is put forward.After the study,using space syntax to research Yangzhou traditional gardens has certain scientificity and feasibility.It is a supplement to the quantitative research and it will better explore the spatial characteristics of traditional gardens.The space of Geyuan garden has the following characteristics:rock is an important factor affecting the separation of the garden space.The cluster plant and rock have greater impact on tour line and sight line;the west side of the bamboo forest and rock mainly separate the space.The Yiyu pavilion is the focus of space,surrounded by roads,hard pavement,rocks and trees.Lakes set up the north side of the Yiyu pavilion attract tour and sight.The garden is small,but has variety of scenes.Tour and sight lines make a distinction.areas can not walk is still visible.At the same time,the space itself has some shortcomings:the main tour line of the garden has little effective guidance,the tour sequence is a little chaotic.West bamboo forest path is relatively straight,only a turn set,and it is short of meandering feeling.The layout and other factors of buildings has weakened the focus of space in a certain extent.
