This article focuses on the current vigorous development of cultural undertakings and the fact that there is a lack of sense of place in the construction of art museum buildings.Analysing the reasons, the exhibition space of the Museum of Contemporary Art is highly mobile, and many art museums display spaces are treated as plain white boxes. As an auxiliary function of other spaces, there is a lack of consideration of the connotation of the architectural space. This makes the interior of the Museum of Contemporary Art monotonous and boring, lacking a sense of place. Therefore, the Museum of Contemporary Art urgently needs a strategy to prevent the void of this subject from being lost. How to create a spatial situation. How to set up the dual semantics of building space and culture. It has become the original intention of the contemporary art museum research under the author's narratological perspective.First of all,the author introduces the background of the topic selection and the analysis of the art museum evolution and the current situation of the museum, and then selects and analyzes the case. The third chapter introduces the related theories of architectural narratology and narratology, and then extracts the related concepts of narratology.Based on the analogy and translation of the related narratological concepts, the framework of the space design strategy of contemporary art museum based on narratology is constructed. It can be divided into two major aspects: the construction of spatial narrative text and the transmission of spatial narrative semantics.Chapters 4,5,and 6 are the core chapters of this article and are part of the solution. The fourth chapter builds a spatial narrative text through the spatial plot and spatial narrative structure pattern, and solves how the contemporary art museum constructs the spatial narrative text.Chapter 5 focuses on the spatial expression of spatial narrative semantics to analyze how contemporary art museums construct spatial connotations.Chapter 6 presents a space design strategy for contemporary art museums based on narratology.Firstly, the author puts forward an overview of design strategy.,which mainly clarifies the information conveyed by the space narrative of the museum and the means to realize the meaning of the information, and puts forward the principle of space narrative, which ensures the main position of exhibition space narrative in the space narrative ofcontemporary galleries,as well as the reliability of space narrative and theme expression. Then the author introduces the concept of narratology, distinguishes two spatial narrative levels based on narrative level: frame narrative level and embedded narrative level. The author also summarizes the characteristics of spatial narrative at different narrative levels..Finally,space operation of contemporary art museums is carried out based on narratology time and narrative perspective.Chapter 7 is the theoretical verification part.Through the case analysis of the Beijing Red Brick Art Museum, the validity of the design strategy of the contemporary art museum guided by the narration method was verified.
