Research On Contemporary Museum Space Design From Architectural Narratology's Perspective

Developing the public cultural undertakings,implementing the major cultural projects and improving the public cultural service system are the inevitable requirement of social development in our country.As the spatial experience has become the focus of architectural design,there also should have been a new perspective to examine the space design of museum architecture,which is an important part of our cultural construction.Based on the perspective of architectural narratology,this paper tries to explore design strategies of the contemporary museum space by the interdisciplinary approach.The research object of this paper is the contemporary museum space.Through studying the basic theories of the narratology,the phenomenology of architecture,architectural narratology and so on,this paper sorts out the development,present situation,and trend of museum architecture space.Through the discussion on the narrative semantics of contemporary museum space,this paper puts forward the strategies of contemporary museum space design from four aspects,which are the narrative theme,narrative elements,narrative path and narrative atmosphere.This paper argues that the narrative semantics of contemporary museum space mainly has five aspects: disseminating history and culture,displaying the image of the city,carrying the social consciousness,reproducing the Genius Loci and highlighting the regional characteristics.Narrative semantic is one of the core of the museum space narrative,which points out the direction for the space design in terms of technique.Relying on the research methods and paths of architectural narratology,the paper constructs a two-way communication model between the narrative design and spatial experience which set the space as a core.It is the guiding principle of space design.The paper takes the narrative elements in the museum space as the core to construct the contemporary museum space design strategy.The strategies mainly have four aspects,namely: the source of narrative theme,the selection of narrative elements,the organization of narrative path and the construction of narrative atmosphere.They help deliver narrative information of the museum space and show the corresponding spatial narrative semantics from the material and spiritual level.This paper constructs the design strategies of the contemporary museum space from the architectural narratology's perspective.The conclusion is expected to provide the theoretical support and practical guidance for the present and future museum design.
