Research On Design Methodology For Electric Chain Hoist Product Based On Functional Design Theory

Product conceptual design is crucial to product innovation and marketing potential,whereas a successful conceptual design must be capable of delivering the specified product function in the first place,and it has to be implemented by the succeeding product structure design.In this thesis,the application and implementation process of functional design theory in product design is studied,with the electric chain hoist being taken as the design case.Firstly,the function analysis process of the product is investigated,and a functional structure tree is constructed through functional decomposition.Secondly,through the exploitation of design principles and design knowledge,a preliminary structure plan is obtained,where each function is mapped to the corresponding structural components or mechanism;Finally,the design analysis and calculation are conducted for the structural design of the product,whereby the main structural parameters are determined,and the CAD models and engineering drawings of the product are eventually obtained.With the research on how a typical mechanical product is developed,from conceptual design to structural design,the thesis has demonstrated the effectiveness of functional design theory on the entire design process.More importantly,it provides a useful reference and structured prototype of the design process for the design and development of similar products.In addition,the electric chain hoist developed from the presented design procedure is featured with simple structure-no use of friction disc for the worm auto-lock brake,and small in size.This design successfully addressed some of the problems exhibited at the existing electric chain hoist designs,for example,existing designs have to use multistage gear transmission,there might be slipping caused by long-time use of friction disc brake,and product size is often too large,etc.Hence,it demonstrates good innovation in design.
