With the development of automation and artificial intelligence,as a major technological innovation in the field of transportation, automated driving has attracted more and more attention of scholars and public. In recent years, autonomous vehicles technology has been fully developed.Autonomous vehicles can improve driving safety, reduce congestion, improve energy efficiency and enhance productivity. In the early development of the autonomous vehicles,it is urgent to explore the public recognition and acceptance of autonomous vehicles, which is important to fully develop the safe and efficient automated driving technology and increase the public acceptance of autonomous vehicles. At first, the paper investigate the general public opinion and cognition about the automated driving in china through a descriptive study. Then rely on the causal model of trust, the paper build the 'trust-acceptance' psychological model, comparing the difference of public perception and attitude between highly autonomous vehicle(HAV)and fully autonomous vehicle(FAV)in China, and research the influencing factors of acceptance of autonomous driving. The psychological model includes four factors:trust, perceived benefit, perceived risk and acceptance. The perceived benefit and perceived risk act as intermediary variables between trust and acceptance. In addition, acceptance covers three factors: public acceptance, behavioral intention(BI)and willingness to pay(WTP).The survey found the difference of acceptance between highly autonomous driving and fully autonomous driving was small. However, according to respondents, the belief of benefits from FAV was more than HAV.In addition, the structural equation model and the mediation analysis showed that trust had a directly positive influence on all three types of autonomous vehicles acceptance. Moreover, trust had an indirectly positive effect on acceptance through perceived benefit.Compared with perceived risk, perceived benefit had a greater direct effect on all there types of autonomous vehicles acceptance and a greater mediating effect in the'trust-acceptance' causality chain model.
