With the continuous innovation of the new energy service industry and the implementation of the electric power system reform,the traditional business model of power supply enterprises is facing unprecedented challenges under the superposition of many reforms.The sustainable development of economy has brought the electricity quantity rising year by year.The development of the society and peopleundefineds life have become more and more inseparable from electricity,and put forward higher requirements to the power supply enterprises.Under the high standards and strict requirements,the frequent power outage events,the longer power outages cause inconvenience to customers,lead to higher customer complaints,and greatly affect the image of power enterprises.In order to meet the economic development and the living needs of the residents,the modern power grid has been devoted to exploring new technologies.On the one hand,it is gradually developing towards the direction of large-scale power generation,ultra-high voltage,long-distance transmission and interconnection of power grids in different regions.To optimize the allocation of power resources.On the other hand,power supply enterprises continuously promote technological innovation,improve the efficiency and quality of operation and maintenance,in order to realize the rapid repair and restoration of line faults,to avoid the expansion of fault range,and to minimize the loss caused by fault blackouts.In Guangdong,the climate is relatively complex and changeable.Every spring and summer festival,severe precipitation and severe convection in a number of regions continue continuously.Every year typhoons destroy the power system in coastal areas.And the rainy season line transient failure rate is often high.On the other hand,the warm and humid climate in the south,the rapid growth of trees,and the branches under the corridor also bring security risks to the safe and stable operation of the power system,and bring some difficulties to the improvement of the reliability of power supply.After decades of practical operation,it has been found that the traditional fault location device has revealed some problems such as inaccurate precision,and then the modern traveling wave location device has gradually entered the power supply enterprise,and has been recognized for its advantages such as easy installation and high accuracy.The fault data recorded by traveling wave location devices installed in different substations are uploaded to the main station through SCADA,fault information acquisition system or special communication channel.The fault distance is calculated quickly by analyzing the fault current traveling wave data.Therefore,the application of modern traveling wave ranging technology in Dongguan Power supply Bureauwill further improve the reliability and stability of Dongguan power grid,continuously improve the power grid risk management and control level and emergency handling ability,and prepare for rapid repair and restoration of electricity,to resist major risks.Not only the influence of power outage caused by line failure on customers is greatly reduced,but also the rate of customer complaints caused by economic loss caused by power outage is reduced.At the same time,it is helpful for the operators to find out the hidden trouble of the transient fault and eliminate it in time,to avoid the repetition of the fault,and to reduce the workload of the manual line inspection at the same time.So this paper first analyzes the problems existing in the early fault location device,then analyzes the requirements of fault location technology in Guangdong power grid,and discusses how to measure the traveling wave signal,the requirements of the traveling wave location device for GPS time synchronization,and so on.Finally,based on the existing problems and corresponding operation experience of XC-100 traveling wave location device in Dongguan power network,the development trend of intelligent substation and the requirement of fault data analysis are synthesised.A new possibility of grid configuration is proposed.
