Morphing wing is a new type of wing structure that can change its shape actively according to the external environment.The aerodynamic shape of the wing can be optimized by reasonable deformation,which can improve the flight limits of the aircraft.For example,morphing wing with variable sectional thickness can adjust lift coefficient and flight drag in order to maintain the optimal flight status and meet the large range of flight mission requirements.In this paper,a smart actuator for morphing wing with variable sectional thickness is designed based on shape memory alloy,which can achieve the maximum displacement of 8mm.The control strategy of SMA is studied,and a measurement and control system based on ARM processor is designed to control the SMA actuator.Some experiments have been performed and the results show that the design of the morphing wing and SMA actuator is feasible and the measurement and control system can realize the displacement control accurately.Then,several improvement measures were put forward to realize bi-directional and larger deformation with some new actuators.The design of these new structures plays an important role in further study.
