Steering performance,as an important part of the automobile subjective and objective evaluation,has been paid more and more attention by the automobile researchers.Automobile steering performance directly affects the vehicle handling and stability,and the vehicle handling stability determines the level of its driving safety.In this paper,a compact SUV is studied,the steering system and the vehicle model are studied based on virtual prototype and bench test,and the steering performance is analyzed.The main composition and working principle of the electric power steering system are studied,and the dynamic model of the steering column,the rack and pinion steering gear and the power steering system are established.According to the established model completed steering system test design,and the performance test of the electric power steering system is carried out.The necessary parameters for modeling are obtained by analyzing the experimental results,and a virtual prototype model of steering system based on ADAMS is established.The characteristics of steering stiffness,friction and so on are verified by virtual prototype simulation,which proves the consistency of the virtual model and the prototype model.According to the result of steering system characteristics test,established a "black box" type power steering system by adding external system library method with Matlab/Simulink software.According to the existing vehicle data established vehicle virtual prototype of ADAMS simulation model,and verified the suspension model by the suspension K & C test;the result of comparation between road test and simulation show that the established vehicle model can accurately reflect the real vehicle steering steady state and dynamic process and the mechanical properties in the steering process.On the basis of existing vehicle virtual prototype model,the effects of steering gear ratio,stiffness of the steering system,friction of the steering system and the vehicle mass center position(front and rear axle load distribution)on the vehicle steering sensitivity and steering drive are studied by steering wheel middle position steering performance test and steering wheel angle step test.The research methods in this paper provide a more effective and accurate modeling method for the evaluation,verification and optimization of vehicle steering performance,and it is of significance for practical application in engineering.
