| Taking traditional timber buildings in the Yangtze River regions as research objects, this paper summarizes the mechanical behavior and component importance distribution characteristics, that are applicable to typical timber structures during the Song and Yuan dynasties, the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the Yangtze River regions. Then, the theories and methods of structural monitoring techniques are studied.Generally applicable structural safety assessment method and damage warning mechanism are proposed. And the procedures towards SHM theoretical research and technique implementation are presented finally. These research results can provide theoretical foundation for structural health monitoring on relevant traditional timber structures. This paper includes seven chapters:Chapter One: Introduction. Background and significance of the topics selected, research and application at home and abroad, existing problems and main research focuses are given in this chapter.Chapter Two: Analysis of the mechanical performance of traditional timber buildings in the Yangtze River regions. In this chapter, based on research and summing-up of documents in literatures, the structural types and characteristics of traditional timber buildings during the Song and Yuan dynasties, the Ming and Qing dynasties are studied.Taking Baoguo Temple hall in Ningbo built in the Song dynasty and Jindai Building in Nanjing built in the Qing dynasty as examples, the structural performance and behavior are studied in detail by using finite element software ANSYS.And the results can provide reference for SHM theoretical researches in the following chapters.Chapter Three: Analysis on component importance of traditional timber structures in the Yangtze River regions. In this chapter, the author proposes a component importance evaluation method based on strain energy and altering elastic modulus. And the results using this method are more fit with the real damage conditions of timber structures. In this chapter, the component importance results of Baoguo Temple hall and Jindai Building are calculated by using the proposed methods. And the component importance evaluation approach is presented that is applicable to traditional timber structures in the Yangtze River regions, which can provide inference for the following study of structural health monitoring theories.Chapter Four: Structural monitoring technologies study of traditional wooden structures in the Yangtze River regions.Structural monitoring techniques and theories are studied in this chapter. The main contents include finite element model updating methods based on structural dynamic tests, structural monitoring system and its components, methods of optimal sensor arrangement for traditional wooden buildings, design of structural monitoring system for traditional wooden buildings and system design of Jindai Building.Chapter Five: Structural safety assessment method and damage warning mechanism of traditional wooden structures in the Yangtze River regions. In this chapter, structural safety assessment method based on Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)of traditional wooden structures is proposed,as well as damage warning mechanism and approaches.Chapter Six: Structural health monitoring system design for traditional wooden buildings in the Yangtze River regions.Based on the research results of previous chapters, system design procedures and methods towards structural health monitoring for traditional wooden buildings in the Yangtze River regions are proposed in this chapter.Chapter Seven: Conclusions and research prospects. The main conclusions are summarized in this chapter, and future research topics in this field are introduced. |
